Be Humble or Proudly : What Psychologists Say ?

Humility is not the boldest of personality traits, but it’s an important one, studies find. And it’s hard to fake.

In their day jobs, research psychologists don’t typically need safety goggles, much less pith helmets or Indiana Jones bullwhips. There’s no rappelling into caves to uncover buried scrolls, no prowling the ocean floor in spherical subs, no tuning of immense, underground magnets in the hunt for ghostly subatomic particles. 

Still, psychologists do occasionally excavate the habits of lost civilizations. In a paper published in the latest issue of Current Directions in Psychological Science, a team of researchers reviewed studies of a once-widespread personal trait, one “characterized by an ability to accurately acknowledge one’s limitations and abilities, and an interpersonal stance that is other-oriented rather than self-focused.” Humility.

Cette dernière peut fournir un travail harmonieux provenant des membres avec une expérience diversifiée. Ces équipes fournissent une plate-forme appropriée à l’émulation de diverses idées et favorisant l’innovation.

Is prostate cancer PSA screening right for you ?

In some men, prostate cancer can be very dangerous. However, most prostate cancers are slow-growing and not destined to cause any problems. The majority of men with prostate cancer are said to die with it and not because of it. Unfortunately, determining whether a man has a “benign” or a dangerous cancer is really difficult. Until one of the bad cancers is quite advanced, there usually are no symptoms to indicate that a man has the dangerous type. 

By screening men for prostate cancer, we hope to catch the small number of these bad cancers, which if untreated, can shorten his life. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) makes recommendations about screening, and they change as we learn more about prostate cancer.
